Know why you are going

"Mission" is one of the key themes in the entire Bible. In the beginning, God created man and woman to have a close relationship with Him. With disobedience, sin entered the world, as well as a separation from God. Since then, it has been God's mission to restore that relationship. Hence, the two great commandments - Love the Lord God with all that you've got and love your neighbor as He has loved you. Our part in His mission is all about sharing the great news of that love with others, so that many can be restored to a relationship with God, through the cross of Jesus Christ.

By 'the unreached', we obviously mean those who have not responded to the gospel, but also that we focus our efforts on those who are not usually contacted through traditional church activity.

• What is driving the desire for a short-term missions trip?
• What is the long-term mission strategy for missions involvement?
• Why do you want to plan a short-term mission trip?
• What would you hope to accomplish on a trip?
• Is now the right time to begin to consider planning a trip?
• How challenging should the trip be (spiritually, financially, geographically)?
• How would a trip fit into the long-term ministry strategy of the sending organizations (local church, District, etc.)
