Oversee and coordinate fund-raising support
- Establish a payment schedule and help the team stick to it
- Establish formal methods of accountability and integrity:
- Obtain approval for all fund-raising ventures
- Keep track of all donations.
- Keep track of all expenses, writing them down immediately. This applies to pre-trip and on the field
- Coach the team to trust in God while taking action to raise funds:
- Help the team remember: "If it's God's will, it's God's bill". Begin by asking God for His assistance
- Communicate that individual expenses are the individual's responsibility; Ministry expenses are the team's responsibility
- If this is a repeat trip to a location then communicate to repeat supporters and potential new supporters how all of the trips fit together into a long-term strategy
- Challenge the team to spread a missions vision and awareness through the support-raising process
- Encourage the team to develop a core donor base and learn to "cultivate" supporters. Send them regular reports, letters, pictures, etc., helping them know that they are called as senders, just as the team is called to go
- Ask the local church to support the effort by:
- Giving official blessing. (e.g., provide letters using official church letterhead)
- Publicizing the trip
- Providing direct financial support
- Organizing prayer support
- Organizing specific fund raising events
- Fund-raising ideas
- Sell some items on an online auction site
- Host a meal as a fund-raiser, with a theme and foods that are representative of the country the team will visit. Open it to the community.
- Sell items (candy, candles, etc) to friends, neighbors, co-workers.
- Participate in a community-wide event. For example, using Legos blocks, build some cultural structure that might be found in the country the team will visit, then have a "Guess the number of Legos" contest.
- Car wash, by donation.
